In the streets of London walks the boys from the Himalayas

This collection is about a young Himalayan boy walking in the streets of London approach to fashion but holding the values and touch of the history and heritage.  The puffer jacket worn by thousands of mountaineers during their expeditions in the Himalayas, the cool urban styling by the youths of London and adding snippets of Himalayan art is my take on incorporating this style.  I wanted to translate this item of clothing and incorporate amalgamation of eastern and western arts.

KINTSUGI

For this project I wanted to do something that involved repairing and patchwork which led me to this Japanese form of art of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer, also known as Kintsugi.

Whilst researching I looked for fabrics that had a similar resemblance to Kintsugi and came across tartans so therefore I started looking at Scottish military uniforms and different style of tartans which led me to merge these two ideas.

Media's used: watercolours, ink, felt tip markers, fine liners, chalk, oil pastels, colouring pencils and tippex.
